Estate Sale #20 Or Something Like That

The most recent estate sale I went to was in a more rural area about 6 miles from where we live.

To get to the house I drove down this wet, curvy road.

It would have been a pleasant drive if the sun was shining through the trees!

But anyway, this is the house.

The house was not for sale but I looked up the address and it sits on 3 acres and is valued at $718,000! The lot was wooded and beautiful but I'm not so sure the house itself was worth that much!

Here's the kitchen.

Not bad. Like most of the older houses I've been in, it could use some updating though.

There was some good stuff for sale. This light fixture was very pretty.

They wanted $125 for it.

These were interesting. Iron horse drawn carriages with elephants inside!

They were asking $40 each for them.

I liked this trunk. It was in perfect condition.

They wanted $260 for it.

I was a little tempted to get this Hamilton Beach Deluxe stand mixer.

They wanted $25 for it which is probably a good price, but I passed. I have never bought myself a stand mixer because I'm afraid I would make too many cookies and cakes! Seriously!

The most interesting part of this house was the master bedroom/bath.

This is the master bedroom. A good size but nothing special.

This is standing in the door of the bedroom looking into the bathroom.

A pretty wide-open space. I'm assuming the toilet is behind the white door and you can see the shower to the right.

To the left is this

Two sinks and mirrors. And to the right is this.

A long hallway with a walk-in closet on the left leading into this.

An octagon shaped sunroom!  I only got half of it in the picture! The blue tile went all the way around the perimeter. There was no door to the outside.

I found this area both interesting and a little creepy. It was a too wide open for my taste. I think I would have to put some kind of door between where the toilet/shower area is and the sunroom.

The blue tile was pretty, though! I did not buy anything at this sale.

Work is a little crazy right now. Our artist Janisse got another job, so she left, and another employee is moving out of state. My boss hired one new employee but she's only staying until August! There is one more lady coming back from Florida to work for the summer, but she will be gone again in the Fall! With Janisse leaving makes me the longest running employee at 1 year and 9 months!

See you the next time!

Random

We finally had a warm enough day to weatherproof my little projects and put them in their place for the summer.

I'll probably take them back inside in the Fall though.

I'm so happy that my lilac bush has a bunch of buds on it! I was worried when it only got one bloom last summer. I guess it's over the shock of being planted!

I am looking forward to the wonderful scent of the flowers!

One of the outside cats has been scratching one of the posts of our deck.

We had to wrap it in aluminum foil until we can sand and stain it again!

Brad's mom took this cute picture of the boys at Easter.

That's about all for right now. I've been struggling a bit with seasonal affective disorder. It's hard to have any ambition when it's cold and cloudy every day! I've had more down days than normal.

Each year it gets harder and harder to deal with Winter. I keep trying to talk Shauna and Brad into moving to a warmer climate so we can follow! So far it's not happening but one can hope!

See you next time!

Double the Fun

This post I have two estate sales to tell you about.

But first we had a very nice Easter with Brad's family.

The boys made out like bandits!

Now on to the estate sales. The first one was at this house.

It's in one of my favorite neighborhoods that I could never afford to live in. It recently sold for $499,900!

There was the usual table of jewelry.

Some of it was really pretty and all in good shape, no junky jewelry!

The kitchen was kind of small and needed updating.

I thought this tray was pretty.

They were asking $30 for it.

These crystal goblets were very pretty.

And at $50 each they better be!

Oh look! More Longaberger baskets!

They ranged in price from $10-30.

Several shelves of VHS tapes and DVDs

Priced at $3 each.

Here's something I don't think I've seen before.

Vintage Playboy magazines for $5 each. They are mostly from the 70's. Looks like a young Burt Reynolds on the cover!

Here's what I bought.

A pair of earrings and a DVD for the boys to watch when they are at our house.

Total spent: $8

The next estate sale was at this condo.

It wasn't for sale that I could see but according to Zillow the value is $303,000.

The kitchen was small but nice. I like the color of the cabinets.

There was only a few interesting things at this sale.

This 50-inch TV was marked down to $15. According to the note on it has a good picture but has two lines in it!

This set of flatware was in brand new condition.

It even had the original paperwork with it. The sign hanging on the right side says, "No extra charge for anti-tarnish chest and No Federal Tax!" It was marked down to $40

And this lovely bridal veil.

Looks very similar to the one I wore so I'm assuming 1970's. I didn't see a price on it.

I did not buy anything at this sale.

That's all that's going on right now. The weather has been gorgeous this past week! My azalea bush and my lilac bush have lots of buds on them!  I was worried about my lilac bush because last year it only got one bloom. Hopefully it's over the trauma of being planted!

See you the next time!

Estate Sale and an Unexpected Bonus

On Friday I went to an estate sale at this house.

There was a lot of people there and I had to park way down the street.

The house recently sold for $675,000.

It was beautiful inside but relatively empty compared to other houses I've been to.

The kitchen dining area was nice with lots of natural light. It was pretty small considering the size of the rest of the house.  I didn't care for the red checkered wallpaper though.

Remember Longaberger baskets and how popular and expensive they used to be? I see lot of them at estate sales and they're not so expensive anymore! This one was cute.  Price: $10

Ugh! That wallpaper really doesn't look good with that countertop!

Another set of flatware. This one was well used!  Price: $100

I did like this mirror. It would definitely have to be painted though. Price $30

I thought this room was pretty with the rug and the hardwood floor.

What is this stool called? Wicker? Rattan? Not sure but it looked like it belonged in a garage sale or church rummage sale! Price: $20

Anyway, here's what I bought:

This Vera Bradley small tote. I'm going to use it for taking my lunch and stuff to work. I paid $15 for it.

Now for the bonus:

This small gold ring and this delicate gold chain were in the tote that I bought. The ring was marked 10K and the chain was marked 14K. The ring was actually on the chain, and it was all tangled up in one of the inside pockets.

I initially thought I would keep them but then I figured that a ring hanging on a chain could have some sentimental value. This morning on my way to work I went back to the house and returned them to the people running the estate sale. They were surprised to say the least! I hope they get returned to the rightful owner!

One time I found a beautiful diamond and gold bracelet on the floor of a casino. I took it into the bathroom so I could look it over really good, and it looked pretty expensive. It had a safety chain that was broke. I really, really wanted to keep it but in the end I turned it over to the first security person I saw.

He was shocked when I handed it over to him!

I guess it's pretty rare for someone to return something they find of value!

Anyway, we are going to Brad's parents tomorrow for Easter and an Easter egg hunt for the kids.

Should be fun!

Until the next time!

Miscellaneous Random Stuff

Last week was spring break for the boys. Shauna and Brad had all sorts of plans for fun stuff to do. Turned out they didn't do anything because Levi got sick and was sick from Saturday all the way through to Thursday.

On Thursday when his fever was gone, we had the boys spend the night to give Shauna a break, which she desperately needed!

While they were here, they created new art pieces for us! They like to sit on the couch with these TV tables.

Levi looked very tired so we had a pretty low-key day and then he slept for 9 hours!

Speaking of art

Janisse redid our board at the store for the Spring season. She always does such a nice job!

We hopefully saw the last of our winter weather so I washed my winter coat and hung it in the back of the closet. Then put my gloves and scarfs in the box I store them in! Hopefully I'm not being too optimistic!

We are going to Brad's parents for Easter. We usually do every year. They have a Easter egg hunt for the boys and a nice dinner.

That's all that's going on for now.

I hope you all have a blessed Easter and we'll see you the next time!

Phone Photo Dump

Time for another purge of the photos I collect on my phone!  The boys were playing with kinetic sand and it is a little oily.  Levi left hi...
