Eclipse And Another Project Coming

On the day of the eclipse I was driving to an eye doctor appointment during our 98% coverage. My appointment was at 3:30 and we hit peak coverage at about 3:18. Who would have thought when I booked the appointment that it would be at that particular time!

Anyway, had my eyes dilated and all is well this year!

This is how we looked at the eclipse.

My son sent a picture of him holding a strainer like that so we did it too! We did not have glasses so I thought this was a pretty neat way to look at it.  It was at about 50% coverage by then.

What was also kind of neat was the shadows.

This was the shadow inside the front door of the pine tree in front of the house.

I ordered new carpeting yesterday and it should be delivered and installed in about 2-3 weeks.

I'm really excited but the thought of everything we have to pack away and move is overwhelming! Everything has to be taken off of all the surfaces and put somewhere. I have a bunch of totes to use, and we'll just stack them up in the kitchen and both of the bathrooms. Plus, we have two beds to take apart and store the mattresses somewhere! PLUS we are having them carpet the closets too so we have to empty them all out! Gah! It's keeping me up at night!

I can't wait for it to be done and over! Then I can enjoy beautiful new carpeting. The one we have now is so old and beat down I don't even want to vacuum it anymore!  You can tell that from the above picture.

That's all going on in my world right now.

I work today then I am off for the next 4 days! Yay!

See you the next time and thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is a really interesting shadow shot! I'm glad you got a good report on your eyes. We really need new carpeting too. But the thought of moving all this heavy stuff is just too much.

  2. That's a bummer that your appointment was during the eclipse. We had a cookout at my daughter's house for it. Yeah, it's a LOT of work, getting new carpeting. We did ours here before we moved in except for the upstairs bedrooms. And I waited until both my son and older daughter had moved out so it wasn't too bad. But the company that did it moved all the furniture. I just had to have everything out of drawers.

  3. Your house will look great when the work is done. In the meantime, grin and bear it.

  4. A lot of places were closed here the day of the eclipse, especially closer to Erie. The doctors office where I go was closed. They were expecting so much traffic that they found it easier to close than to make employees try and get through.
That does sound like a lot of work moving everything out of the way. I would find that overwhelming too.

  5. Glad to hear it was good news at the eye doctor. You house should be nice and cozy with the new carpeting.

  6. Your shadow pic is very cool!
The new carpet will be so nice! You'll have to share pics when it's in.

  7. Hummm...well...in the closet...why empty it? The worker will be on the floor and it shouldn't really take long to get carpet installed in there. That's how we did it years ago...he was in and out in less than an hour.
I mean unless things are hanging down in his face? Can't wait to see photos!
Enoy your four days off, friend!!
    hugs

    1. I just mean we have to take everything off of the floors. My closets are crammed full of totes and boxes! No, they can definitely crawl underneath anything hanging there!

  9. new anything is always a treat. When I had my carpet cleaned in Nov it looked almost brand new! You have to take photos! I have some projects that I need to do - I’ve been so busy during the week but soon, I’ll have an extra day.
Next eclipse will be in August 2045 and I’ll be 91. It will be a total in my town and I’d love to see it. Strange though, to think I might not see it. That’s the first time I ever wanted to see something that I might not be alive to see. Aging is a trip!

  10. in 2017 we had a total but this time we only got like 93 percent and it did not get anywhere as dark as I thought it would. In 2017. it got all the way dark, it was so cool. Yay, for new carpet. Always nice getting new stuff like that. I have NO carpet anywhere in this house and I am good with that.

  11. Happy you had an all clear from the eye doctor. That's always a relief. I'm surprised they were open during the eclipse. Here most things closed for the day because of the expected traffic. Good luck with the carpet. It's a lot of work but you'll be glad you did it when it's all installed and the rooms are put back together. Have a great week.

  12. Glad you made it okay driving to your eye appointment during the solar eclipse. I watched it on television. It was 80% here in WNC. Good luck getting the work done installing new things. It will be good when it is accomplished.

  13. I'm laughing that you had a eye appointment at the same time of the eclipse! HA.
Goodness, emptying closets and your house doesn't sound fun. But new carpet will be delightful!

  14. Husband got out the steamer for eclipse viewing. We were only a little over 50% here. I love the eclipse shadows through your tree.
I would gladly move stuff for new carpeting. We'll be needing it soon too. Enjoy!

  15. I had a doctor appt on eclipse day too, and got out of the office right about three-ish when everything was cranking up, so I was on the interstate for most of it! I didn't have any glasses anyway but that weird flat light always creeps me out, hahaa! I meant to say on your other post about your job, I'm so glad the residents have you. I used to say the same thing to Mari when she worked at a facility similar to yours. I know you are a bright spot in their day and what a privilege that is. Your new carpet will be such a blessing! When we did our bedroom a year ago, I said nope to the closets, hahaha! So you can see the old carpet in there but the pirate does not care. xoxo

    1. They told me at the carpet store that there would be a lot of waste if we did not do the closets because I originally said nope too! Anyway, I'll be glad when it's all installed and everything is back in it's place!
