East Tawas

Spent part of last weekend at my cousin Carole's place on Lake Huron in East Tawas.

It's beautiful there.

This year they added on to their deck so it goes all the way to the water.  Those stairs on the left lead to yet another lower deck and a dock.

This is the view of the house and deck from the dock.

We only stayed one night this time and the weather on Saturday was kind of cool and rainy...

but the sun rise in the morning was worth getting up early for! 

Checking On The Kitties

Last week Shauna was on vacation so we spent a lot of time at her apartment.....

Checking on the grand kitties! Making sure they had food, water and clean litter boxes!

Where's my mom?

Yea, where is she? I don't like you guys!

We also brought some snacks...

And watched a bunch of episodes of True Blood.

We love that show but don't subscribe to HBO. Shauna and Brad do so she was kind enough to DVR it for us so we could see it!

We only got to watch about half of what they had recorded so I think they need  to go on another vacation so we can watch the rest of them!

I'm sure she'd love it!!

I'm not too sure about the kitties, though!

Brenda's Photo Challenge-

Sorry, I'm a little late for the  Brenda's Photo Challenge! I thought it was set to post yesterday but apparently not! This one is titled B&W Self Portrait!.

Now, this was was a little difficult because I do not like pictures of myself. However, being in black and white kind of took the edge off, I think!

Let me get this posted and I'll be back to visit with you all in a little bit!

Vacation

Rich and I took this past week off of work to just have some time to chill. The only specific plan we had was to go to Port Austin, at the tip of the thumb. We meandered up there taking a route that followed Lake Huron so we could stop at other little towns along the way.

Made a quick pit stop at Lakeport State Park to use their bathroom. It's a long walk to the bathrooms up a path and over the highway...

But the huge beach and view of Lake Huron is worth the walk.

Made another stop at Grindstone City...which used to have a huge grindstone mill in the 1800's and lots of grindstones all over the beach. There's only pieces of them now, but it was interesting to look for them.

Finally made it to Port Austin and spent some time at Sleeper State Park.

Lake Huron was beautiful and surprisingly warm. Usually the great lakes are pretty cold but this hot weather we're having has warmed them up quite a bit.

Found the perfect spot for a picnic. I don't know who that lady was but she sat there the whole time we had our little picnic!

Got a room in a motel for the night right on the lake. The sun sun shining on the water was so pretty and looked promising for a beautiful sunset!

But when it came time for the sun to set, clouds moved in and we did get a pretty sunset, it just wasn't on the water!.

This is the third year in a row that clouds have covered a sunset on the lake for us! Guess we keep picking the wrong day!

Still pretty, though!

Sad and Happy Weekend

We had a pretty busy weekend with a couple of family events that happened but before I get to those I have to relay some sad news.

Remember this guy that I wrote about a while back?

Chris and Marissa had to put him to sleep on Friday. He had been acting like he wasn't feeling good off and on for the past few weeks and when they took him to the vet he was diagnosed with cancer of the spleen. They kept him for a few more days while he was not in any pain but he was losing muscle mass and when he could not walk without falling, they did not want him to suffer at all so they took him in. They are heartbroken and so are we. He was such a good dog and we are all going to miss him a lot!



Saturday we attended my niece Carly's graduation party. It was a lot of fun. They had a tiki bar, a bouncy house and a photo booth and lots of good food! My other niece made these adorable cake pops that were too cute! They looked like little coconut drinks!

But best part of the night was the time I got to spend cuddling this little guy!

Dante Thomas

Oh my goodness,  he is so cute!! And all you have to do is talk to him a little and he smiles like crazy!
I could just eat him up!!

And on Sunday we attended his baptism!

Did a lot of driving this weekend because neither place was very close to us but it was worth it for all the fun family time!

Take A Walk With Me Part 3

OK we'll finish our walk this time! We past the half way point and are now headed back towards home on Warren Road. This is a little busier road with a few more businesses on it.

Oops, got a text message from my sister-in-law. Gotta stop for a second and answer her back. Can't walk and text at the same time!

St. John Neumann Catholic Church.. one of the biggest and busiest churches in Canton.

This is a wetland area that is all dried up because we have had hardly any rain this summer. All the ducks and geese have left for wetter parts!

This is what that area looked like earlier this year. Apparently the water is not nearly as deep as I thought it was!

 Some punk decided to paint graffiti on on the wetland sign. Why do people have to be destructive?

Back at Sheldon Road and making another left.

Heading north again towards home. Not too much along this street.

Coming up to the entrance to our subdivision.

We're going to make a right turn on Brandywyne towards home. Time for one more song!

Ahhhh.. sure feels good to kick off those shoes!
