Comfy Spaces and Estate sale

Last year our glass patio table was shattered by too much pressure from the umbrella. I posted about it in this post in case you missed it.  We spent the rest of the summer with just a couple of little side tables. This year I bought a new, smaller metal table that fits the space so much better and won't break!

I bought new cushions for the chairs and cleaned up our umbrella. It was pretty dirty after sitting in our shed without a cover for a year. I took the cover off and put it in the washing machine. It came out really nice! Now our little deck is a comfy place to sit once again!

Friday I was off work so I drove to the local park for my morning walk.

It is a very pretty place to walk and a little hilly so it's a good work out!

After my walk I happened upon an estate sale sign so of course I had to go to it!

This is the house.

It was not for sale but Zillow estimated its value at $575,000. You'll see why in a minute.

Here's the kitchen.

Outdated of course but not too bad. I liked the peninsula with the stools around it.

Here's the view out the window above.

This is why the value is so high. It's on a lake! I knew there was a lake in this area I just wasn't sure exactly where. You can't see it from the road.

Anyway, besides the view the house wasn't anything special and the prices were ridiculously high!

I thought this sign was cute.

And I have to agree! I liked these wine glasses.

Not for $15 each though! There was this napkin dispenser.

Cute and I know CocaCola stuff is popular, but they were asking $30 for it!

I liked this sign.

They were asking $10 so I passed!

I really liked these Christmas candles.

Not for $20 for the set though! See what's underneath? That's right, Longaberger baskets! I hit the mother lode of them at this sale!

There was every kind and size of basket you could ask for! They ranged in price from $50 for the smallest one up to $500! They were all in beautiful shape, but don't they know that Longaberger baskets are a dime a dozen at estate sales this year?

I almost told the people running the estate sale that the prices were way to high!

Of course, I didn't buy anything at this one!

I was happy enough just to enjoy the beautiful view! Wouldn't it be nice to have your morning coffee on this deck?

Then.......

Two days later I went back to the same sale because it was the last day and everything was 75% off (except the Longaberger baskets..they were 60% off). I ended up buying this pretty silver picture frame that was marked $2.

And the welcome sign was still available, so I grabbed it.

The candles above were still there and were now $5 for the set but I noticed a chip in one of them that I didn't see before so I passed.

Total spent: $3. Now that's more like it!!

Our Memorial weekend was nice. We both worked some of the days but managed to spend quality grandson time and attend a few barbeques!

I hope your weekend was filled with family, friends and good food!

Thanks for stopping by! See you the next time!

This N That

My son-in-law was out of town for work last week and we went to Shauna's for dinner one night. She cooked us a delicious dinner and afterwards we took the boys for ice cream and to Downtown Plymouth Kellogg Park to run around. We had fun and it gave Shauna a nice little break!

They had fun throwing pennies into the fountain and running around it!

Took a walk in our community and came upon these red headed herons.  (Correction: They are sandhill cranes)

It's unusual to see them in our park. They were not too happy to have me walking behind them!

This is Phoebe.

One of my former coworkers asked me to check on her little dog occasionally when her and her husband work long days. She's a cutie and it's fun to take a dog for a walk again. It's been quite a while!

Rich is working a new job at Kroger in the produce department. He likes it and it sure beats driving for Uber eats!

My job is coming along ok. My hours are a little crazy right now, mostly working the later shift. I don't mind especially when the boys get out of school for the summer.  I will be able to spend more days with them.

Shauna got me this for Mother's Day.

It's a succulent garden Lego kit and has over 700 pieces! I already started on it. I'll show the finished project when I get done.

Levi went to kindergarten orientation last week.

Shauna and Brad were undecided whether to put him in regular kindergarten or young 5's kindergarten since he won't turn 5 until the end of September. Luckily the school district is blending the two grades together due to not enough students for the young 5's. Levi will do just fine but get the extra help if he needs it.

That's about it for me. I haven't been to any estate sales lately. Either I've been too busy or there aren't any close enough to my house. I hope to remedy that soon!

See you the next time!

Estate Sale, Baseball and Good Food!

Last Saturday while on the way to watch the boys play baseball, I saw an Estate Sale sign so of course I made Rich stop at it!

This was the house. It was on a hill, up a long, steep driveway.

Although there was a lock box on the door it was not for sale.  I looked it up on Zillow and the estimated value is $465,000.

I'm going to go to the best part of this house right away. That long front porch you see in the above picture leads to this.

The biggest deck I have ever seen! It was awesome and high up with beautiful views!

The house was pretty outdated but there were a few interesting things. This was a corner fireplace in the basement which was partially finished.

I can't imagine building a fire in it though!

This was the kitchen.

Outdated but there was a ton of counterspace and a big island, which is always a plus!

This was labeled "MCM Peter Pepper Sailboat Sculpture" and was priced at $1,000! I have no art appreciation so if you do, please enlighten me as to who this Peter Pepper is and why this sculpture is worth so much money?

Although everything was 50% off so you could have it for a steal at $500!

Here is what I bought.

Normally I do not buy shoes at estate sales. There is a certain ick factor for me to buy used shoes, but these were in brand new condition and at 50% off I only paid $2.50 for them! Plus they are Clarks which is a good brand.

You can bet I washed them up really good with a bleach solution when I got them home though!

The boys started baseball last week and we have been going to their practices and games every Saturday.

Maxwell is playing Coach-pitch baseball and Levi is playing T-Ball.

It's so fun to watch them! Reminds me of when Chris played T-ball many years ago!

Finally, I made this Ham and Cheese Croissantwich that Mari posted on her blog My Little Corner of the World a few weeks ago.

Sorry for the lousy edited picture! I did replace the swiss cheese with cheddar but it was still really, really good! We will definitely be adding it to the meal rotation! Thanks, Mari!

Tomorrow, Mother's Day we are having Shauna, Brad, the boys and Brads Mom and Dad over for brunch.

See you the next time!

Estate Sale and The House Projects Begin

My friend and I went to an Estate Sale yesterday at this house.

It was for sale for $699,000.  The majority of the estate sales I go to are in a city called Northville, which is a very desirable area. That's why all of the houses are so high priced.

The house was nice inside. A lot of ornate decorations but not overly so.

This was the kitchen.

The wood floor was beautiful. The white leather couch you see looked barely used and was priced at $250.

I loved this beautiful wooden table. It was priced at $550 and $300 for the 4 chairs.

This set of china was pretty.

Only $400!

I thought this little countertop wine holder was nice.

The bottom was a little drawer that holds wine accessories. It was $30 which I thought was a good price.

There were quite a few designer purses.

This little Prada bag can be yours for a mere $250! Or, if you want, a signed copy of a rap CD for $50 if that's your thing!

I think the best part of this house was the master bedroom.

This picture is only half of it. It was big and open and just beautiful! Lots of big windows and natural light.

I didn't take a lot of pictures because it was pretty crowded. I also didn't buy anything.

*************************************

In other news, a big project of ours this summer is to paint the whole interior of our house. We finally got that started with the small bathroom.

Here's some before pictures.

Partially painted ceiling.

And after.

Bathrooms are the worst room to paint, I think. There is a lot of hard-to-reach places! It took us two days but we're really happy with how it came out.

Next will be the master bathroom. It's going to take us longer to paint this house than we thought because we need a few weeks recovery time between each room!  The joys of getting older!

Next time another estate sale and Maxwell and Levi started baseball!

See you then!

Estate Sale #20 Or Something Like That

The most recent estate sale I went to was in a more rural area about 6 miles from where we live.

To get to the house I drove down this wet, curvy road.

It would have been a pleasant drive if the sun was shining through the trees!

But anyway, this is the house.

The house was not for sale but I looked up the address and it sits on 3 acres and is valued at $718,000! The lot was wooded and beautiful but I'm not so sure the house itself was worth that much!

Here's the kitchen.

Not bad. Like most of the older houses I've been in, it could use some updating though.

There was some good stuff for sale. This light fixture was very pretty.

They wanted $125 for it.

These were interesting. Iron horse drawn carriages with elephants inside!

They were asking $40 each for them.

I liked this trunk. It was in perfect condition.

They wanted $260 for it.

I was a little tempted to get this Hamilton Beach Deluxe stand mixer.

They wanted $25 for it which is probably a good price, but I passed. I have never bought myself a stand mixer because I'm afraid I would make too many cookies and cakes! Seriously!

The most interesting part of this house was the master bedroom/bath.

This is the master bedroom. A good size but nothing special.

This is standing in the door of the bedroom looking into the bathroom.

A pretty wide-open space. I'm assuming the toilet is behind the white door and you can see the shower to the right.

To the left is this

Two sinks and mirrors. And to the right is this.

A long hallway with a walk-in closet on the left leading into this.

An octagon shaped sunroom!  I only got half of it in the picture! The blue tile went all the way around the perimeter. There was no door to the outside.

I found this area both interesting and a little creepy. It was a too wide open for my taste. I think I would have to put some kind of door between where the toilet/shower area is and the sunroom.

The blue tile was pretty, though! I did not buy anything at this sale.

Work is a little crazy right now. Our artist Janisse got another job, so she left, and another employee is moving out of state. My boss hired one new employee but she's only staying until August! There is one more lady coming back from Florida to work for the summer, but she will be gone again in the Fall! With Janisse leaving makes me the longest running employee at 1 year and 9 months!

See you the next time!
