Hard to come up with titles for these phone dumps but I'm pretty sure there hasn't been 999 of them!
Anyway, life's been too busy lately with working and trying to keep up with the grandkids and various family members, but I did take some time to try to teach myself to sew again.
I started with these glasses' cases.
While I'm trying to relearn how to sew a straight line I made a bunch of these. I used old jeans that I had. I also bought a xxl size pair of jean shorts from the Salvation Army and got a lot of material off of that! Plus I get different pieces of material from a thrift shop by my house that sells them for $1-2 each.
The glasses cases were pretty easy.
I also made a few little wallets and drawstring bags.
I didn't really enjoy making those, especially the little wallets.
Then I tried my hand at this little petal pouch.
It looks like a small square pouch when it's open and when you close it.
It looks like there is a flower on top, kind of like a poinsettia.
This was the hardest thing I've sewed so far, and I had to watch the video over and over again to get it right. I think they would make cute Christmas gifts filled with candy or something. I doubt I will get many made before Christmas though!
In the non-sewing department, I made this cute little hat using yarn and a slice of a toilet paper roll. Here it is next to my mouse for size comparison.
I actually brought all the stuff with me and made it at work one night. You can fit a Lindorf candy inside. I may make a bunch of those to give for little Christmas gifts.
Speaking of work they had a pink party last week to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month of October.

The Big Hair 80's - those were the days! Love it! That sunset is magnificent! We put our green tomatoes in a paper lunch bag to help them ripen. Doesn't work for all of them, but it does for some.

Your sunset is gorgeous! And I love seeing you being pretty in pink. You know how to sew a variety of things. The poinsettia bag is gorgeous!!! And the tiny hat so adorable.
ReplyDeleteGood for you getting back in to sewing. I still have my machine and everything, but it's been a LONG time, so I'd probably have to start from scratch. Love the pouches and I love the picture with all of the 80's hair. It may have been big, but it is better than some of the styles I've been seeing lately. lol
ReplyDeleteYour glasses cases look very handsome! All your sewing looks great but the petal pouch is my favorite! I have made things like that in the past. As a matter of fact, one of my nieces asked me to make several of them for her bridesmaids as gifts. That was fun, using especially pretty fabrics.
