Happy Thanksgiving and Mom

Happy Thanksgiving to all my blog buddies. May we all be thankful for the wonderful people in our lives!

My mother-in-law passed away on Tuesday. She died while in her wheelchair, being taken to play bingo, one of her favorite things to do besides Find-a-word puzzles. Her heart just stopped. She was 92 years old.

Here's a picture of her and Rich the last time we saw her. Loved that beautiful smile. For this picture I said say "cheese".

And for this picture I said say "screw".

She had a wonderful sense of humor and she loved to laugh!

I am thankful I had the privilege of being her daughter-in-law for more than 33 years. She will be missed.

Round Robin Photo Challenge-Colorblind

This is my interpretation of this weeks Round Robin Photo Challenge!

This is a picture taken last year using the negative setting on my camera.

I took this picture in our family room. I just think the overall shade is really pretty and it makes the room look cool and inviting. But the best part is my kittie, Smudge. He just looks so neat, like his little head just fits perfect in that spot!

Hump Day

Happy Hump Day!

So not too much going on these days, which I guess is a good thing.

It's getting colder out and I. dont. like. it! Good thing I have hot flashes or I would be freezing all of the time!! It takes me forever to get my winter blood! Around the middle of December I start getting used to the cold. However, and I never thought I would say this, I am looking forward to the first snow that covers everything. It sure does look pretty.

Thanksgiving in only one week! This year we are gathering at my dad's house. We just use his house, he doesn't do anything but supply the tables and chairs. We do all of the cooking.

Then next Friday I plan on putting up the Christmas trees. Seems like I just took them down!

In other exciting news...my Christmas cactus bloomed!!

I brought this plant home from work over the summer. It was sitting there for years just growing bigger and bigger and not doing much else. I know that they need partial darkness to bloom and I had the perfect room. Our guest room never gets used because we never have guests so I thought it would put it in there and see if anything happens.

First I transplanted it into a bigger pot, where half of it promptly died and fell out! Seriously, I walked into the room and there was half of the plant on the floor! Anyway, I did not hold out much hope for it because I am not known for my green thumb, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw the buds forming!!

Anyway, it's very pretty and I makes me happy!

Have a good rest of the week!

Work And Stuff

Took my camera to work the other day.

Riding the bus in the morning. I changed my parking situation by parking at a Park-n-Ride about two miles from the hospital. It's much easier than having wait for a parking spot or cram on the shuttle. So it takes me a few minutes longer to get to my car in the evening, it's so much less stressful it's totally worth it!

That's Max on my computer monitor. I change the picture every few months to a different cat!

This is my little zen corner of my desk! That is the bouquet of fall flowers that I bought at the Salvation Army store last week. And a little fountain that I never plug in!

Standing at the bus stop in front of the hospital looking up. They just put that M up there last year.

This weekend was pretty low key. I had to work Friday and it was the longest day ever!!

I was up early on Saturday morning (I mean 3:30 early) and could not go back to sleep so of course that night I was pretty tired. Went to bed before 10:00 (please don't envy these exciting Saturday nights!) and slept until 7:30 this morning. The we spent the whole day today cleaning the house.

Now it's time to clean up the kitchen and start getting ready for another work week! Thanksgiving and a four days off in less than two weeks!

Thrift Shopping and Not Much Else!

Friday a new Salvation Army Family Store opened just a few blocks from my house. I was very happy to see this store coming because the little strip mall that it's located in has been 50% empty since the Farmer Jack grocery store and the CVS pharmacy closed about 4 years ago. There used to be quite a few stores including a Dress Barn and a dollar store but when the big stores closed they lost alot of the traffic, so any other smaller stores struggled to stay open! Anyway, Friday morning was the long anticipated grand opening of the thrift store. I drove by about 9:00 on my way to the bank and this is what I saw:

Packed and waiting in line to get in the store! The line went away after about a half-hour but the parking lot remained packed for the whole weekend! It is a pretty nice store as thrift stores go.

I bought a bouquet of silk fall flowers for my desk at work that I forgot to take a picture of.

A cat creamer and a little cat figurine:

A black button down shirt and a purple cardigan.

All for $17.00.

I love thrift store shopping as much as garage and estate sales. I have no problem buying used clothing (well except for underwear, socks and shoes..blech!). I am definitely looking forward to browsing this new store.

We had a pretty uneventful weekend. Saturday went to breakfast with Marie and dinner with Chris and Marissa, both at the same restaurant. It's just like a coney island but they have the best omlettes ever and I love their Greek salad!

Speaking of Marie her and her husband leave next Sunday for a Caribbean cruise that her daughter gave them for their anniversary! I'm so excited for her and a little jealous, too!! I could use a cruise about now!!

It's getting cold and Friday it actually did the s-word (I can't bring myself to say it!) for a few minutes! Plus it's dark on my way home from work now! Bah!

Have a good week!!

Round Robin Photo Challenge-Through the Window

Time for another Round Robin Photo Challenge!

The theme this time is "Through The Window"

I love taking pictures of my cats whether I'm inside or outside! This ones kind of neat because it's like he's peeking through the blinds and I also like the reflection of the bushes on the window.

Click above and check out more "Through the Window" photos!

Phone Photo Dump

Time for another purge of the photos I collect on my phone!  The boys were playing with kinetic sand and it is a little oily.  Levi left hi...
