This old roaster has been in our family for I don't know how long! It's old and the cord is frayed. The last time I used it was to roast a turkey about 4 years ago and it worked pretty good. But reality is I probably won't ever use it again. I kept it for a long time for sentimental reasons but it takes up a lot of room in the pantry. Time for it to go so Rich gave it to his friend to use for scrap metal! Bye old roaster! Until tomorrow stay safe and well my friends!
If the chord was frayed it was a good idea to get rid of it. Good move.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, those electric roasters!!! I remember them well from my childhood, Jeanette. My mother had one too but I don't know what happened to it. Probably the same fate as the one you're talking about. I remember bridal showers and baby showers, down church basements, and wedding receptions too.... with these types of roasters lining the walls of the kitchens. Back when the food for special occasions was all homemade and not catered or store-bought. Such good memories.... thank you for stirring them up for me. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey, my late grandma had one of those, grin.
ReplyDeleteI’ve only ever owned a crock pot.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's seen better days---surely some great meals were shared because of this roaster. RIP
ReplyDeleteAwwww! Don't you just hate to part with something that has so much nostalgia attached to it! But it's good to know when to say when. I bet that roaster cooked up a mighty bunch of excellent vittles in its day. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have problems getting rid of sentimental stuff as well. But I am so glad you got rid of this. It makes me think of that episode of "This Is Us", where their house burned down due to the frayed cord on an old slow cooker.
ReplyDeleteI always have a hard time getting rid of things that have been around forever. Good job letting it go
ReplyDeleteWith that frayed cord, seems its days are really over. And for safety's sake, wise to make sure, no one ever tries to use it again.
ReplyDeleteAwww. I'm sad that had to go. I can almost taste the Mostaccioli (kept warm in it for hrs on end at family party's) just looking at that. Love you, love your blogs. Stay warm (like mostaccioli in the old roaster). Love and Miss you.
