From Spider Webs to Cake

I took last Friday off to have a long weekend before all hell breaks loose at work. There will be a couple people missing, one on a medical leave and one that quit and is not going to be replaced very quickly, so things at work are going to be stressful. I figured I would take a three-day weekend, some calm before the storm so to speak!

Anyway, the previous weekend we had purchased a new washing machine. The corner in the basement where the washer and dryer sit was pretty dirty. I don't think it had been cleaned out since we moved in there almost 9 1/2 years ago. The new washer was being delivered on Saturday, so I wanted to clean that corner up, take the dryer apart and clean it out and just get it ready for the new washer. So that's what I spent part of my day off doing! Ugh! Vacuuming all those spider webs and egg sacs and dead bugs was just gross! Serves me right for neglecting it for so long!

I also bought a new little cart to go between the washer and dryer. I had to put it together, and this is how the screws came:

All stuck in a little square of Styrofoam!

So here is my new washer and the new cart, all cozy in the cleaned up corner! The washer is a high-efficiency top loader. Works like a front loader but a lot less expensive!

Wednesday is my mother-in-laws birthday. She is 91 years old. Sunday we all went to the nursing home to help her celebrate. They had a delicious-looking cake and I didn't eat a bite of it. Everyone else was enjoyng cake and ice cream, I was eating popcorn!

I can't wait for Lent to be over!

  2. Good job Net. My Grandkids do so well with not eating sweets during Lent, however, they have Sunday as a free day. I told them that I didn't think when Jesus was out in the desert for 40 days, He got Sunday as a free day to eat whatever He wanted and not have to do battle with the devil. They didn't find any humor in my statement.

Once when I was 13, someone asked me what I was giving up for Lent and I told them, "Algebra." My mother didn't find any humor in that statement either.

Apparently I am the only one who thinks I am funny.

  3. We got a new washer not that long ago too. It was not too much fun when it wouldn't spin the water out anymore. LOL Looks good.

  4. I prefer top loaders to front loader machines, but they're quite a rarity here. We get a lot of spiders here, and I don't mind them, except that if you stand still for too long in my house you could almost guarantee that a spider would build a web on you.
