Mine, All Mine!

First I have to say that I did a little digging on that sewing machine. So far I found out it was manufactured in 1910 in Elizabeth, NJ. So next year it will officially be an antique! That's all I know right now. I have no idea if my grandmother bought it new or used. I think she was still in Italy in 1910 so she must have bought it used. I know there was a time when my mom told me all of this stuff but I guess I didn't pay attention and now it's too late! Damn!!

Anyway, as I mentioned before, I got my own desk at work. I love it!! Well, I still don't love going to work but this makes it a tad easier! To show you, here is where I USED to sit:

And here is my new desk. It's about 20 feet from my old desk but makes all the difference to me! At least I have room to do my job now and can be a little more organized.

That's all for now. I have to get my flu shot today. Yuk. I hope it doesn't make me feel crappy. I still don't feel 100% better from my cold last week.

It's Friday though so that makes everything OK!!

  1. Oh, I LOVE IT!! Your new desk and work space is SO cool! Man, does that take me back a few years when I was working in an office.

That's really something about the sewing machine, but I'm not all that surprised about the age seeing as how you said it was a Singer treadle. The only reason I say that is because my grandmother had one, and she was married in 1893. The one we have now that was Mom's is a pedal and that one has to be at least over 50 years. You've got a "jewel" there for many reasons including, of course, the sentiment.

Good luck with the flu shot - enjoy the long weekend, and I hope Rich has a safe trip! ((hugs))

  2. Boy I'll bet you're glad to have your Own space! Love it!
My Gran had a Singer pedal one. They emigrated from Austria and Granfather got it for her after they arrived...I think in 1915 or so...Happy weekend!!hughugs

  3. It is always nice to have your work area to yourself and organized like you want it. My grandma had the same sewing machine and my mother used it for awhile, until they got electricity and she got a pedal one. It is an antique, probably worth more for the memories it evokes than for the value in money.

  4. Aaahh, nothing like a nice little corner to have a wee bit of privacy! Glad to hear that you researched the machine too. It's cool to know that info, huh?!

We got our flu shots a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure you did just fine with it!

  6. Don't you just love new work areas? I'm constantly moving my computer around on my desk so I feel like I'm in a new spot. I also hang a new piece of fabric on the cubicle wall every few months just to feel rejuvenated!
