February Photo A Day #28

Another stop we made on our trip to Atlantic city was Niagara Falls, on the American Side. I've been there more than I can count. This is my favorite picture of a close up of the falls. I think the purple flowers make it look so pretty!

Well, that's it for my photo a day project. I hope you all enjoyed them! I have to admit I was stretching at the end for things to post! But I always enjoy it and probably will do it again next year!

I'll be back with a normal post soon.

Until then stay safe and well my friends!

February Photo A Day #27

On our visit to Atlantic City we noticed they had a huge population of stray cats. Someone was taking care of them, though. This is a bunch of cat houses and shelters underneath the boardwalk that stretch on along pretty much the whole thing.

Until tomorrow stay safe and well my friends.

February Photo A Day #26

Several years ago Rich and I took a road trip to Atlantic City. We stopped for the night in Pennsylvania and while looking for something to do after dinner I saw in the hotel information book that we were only about 10 miles from where United flight 93 crashed during 9/11 so we jumped back in the car and drove to see it. At the time there was only a temporary memorial there but it was filled with all sorts of memorials, benches and signs and trinkets that people left. This is a picture of the actual crash sight. No one but family members were allowed on it. It's hard to see but there is an American flag right in the center. Made me so sad to be there.

Until tomorrow stay safe and well my friends.

February Photo A Day #25

I cut this little cartoon out of the newspaper back in 1986. At the time I was a stay at home mom to a 7 and 5 year old and my little family looked like the picture! I must have been feeling pretty unimportant then ( I know, right?)  because this really resonated with me! I've kept it in my wallet for all these years until just a few months ago when I stuck it up on my bulletin board. It's still good words to live by, though!

February Photo A Day #24

This was the little sticker closing the box of a mini waffle maker I bought recently. The French interpretation struck me as funny for some reason. Sticker De Sabotage sounds so much more ominous than Tamper Sticker, don't you think?

February Photo A Day #23

This is me and Rich in June 1981. We were in my brothers wedding party. I was 9 months pregnant with Shauna. The date was June 20th and Shauna was born on July 11th! When I had the dress altered the seamstress took it up at the waist instead of the hem to bring the fullness up! I actually really loved the dress and the hat too!

February Photo A Day #22

Every January our town has a ice festival where they display ice carvings, have contests and other activities.  Normally all the happenings are together in the park and it draws a big crowd! This year they only had small ice sculptures in front of the businesses so people could just walk up and down the streets to see them. It's freezing cold out right now so we haven't done any walking but I did jump out of the car to take a picture of this one in front of a little boutique. I thought it was pretty with the red roses embedded in the bowl!

As a side note, last year it was so warm the weekend of the Ice Festival that all the sculptures melted before the festival even started!

February Photo A Day #21

Our deck this week. Nice how we didn't even bother to take the chairs or the umbrella in this winter! Oh well, lots of clean up in the Spring!

February Photo A Day #20

This is a picture of my great grandmother, my dad's grandmother. We called her Nonita. She's  with her husband. According to my dad he was very abusive to her. In fact, on their divorce papers "extreme cruelty" was given as the reason for divorce. He left her to abuse another woman. To me she looks very cowed and unhappy in this picture. Luckily, I never knew him and the Nonita I knew was a happy woman who loved to laugh!

February Photo A Day #19

This is how I exercise most every morning. I watch YouTube videos on my laptop sitting on the couch in the living room!

I am diabetic and well, I don't necessarily always follow a diabetic diet. Doing 45 minutes of aerobic exercise every day helps to keep my blood sugar levels good all day.

February Photo A Day #18

In the summer of 2015 my husband and I took a road trip to the east coast, all the way up to Bar Harbor, Maine. We made many stops along the way but at the time this was a definite highlight for me. Stephen King's house in Bangor. I was a huge fan at the time!

February Photo A Day #17

This is my other grandparents house in Detroit,  my mom's parents. Obviously it looks a lot better than my dad's parents house! I have a lot of memories in this house too! Playing in the alley next to the house and the huge rose garden my grandmother kept in the backyard! I'm glad it's been taken care of all these years.

February Photo A Day #16

Whenever the sun shines during the day I open the front door because it's metal and it can get really hot! The cats love the patch of sunlight and will lay in it for as long as it's there!

February Photo A Day #15

The boys spent the night last weekend so Shauna and Brad could finally have a date night. They like to take a "bath" which really means they like to play with water in the bath tub! I didn't really bath them or wash their hair. They had just had a bath that morning! They just played until the water got cold!

I got this wooden heart at Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. It's perfect to hang on my pantry door!

Happy Valentine's Day!

February Photo A Day #13

This picture of me and my older brother was taken Christmas 1958. I was two just about to turn 3. It was taken in the house that I posted a picture of a few days ago.

Have you ever heard of Chaffles before? I saw these on a Keto sight on Instagram that I follow and thought I would give them a try. I'm not on a Keto diet but I do try to watch my carbs.

February Photo A Day #11

Even though it's cold and the streets can be slushy, I still try to wash my car every couple weeks. Keeps the salt and grime from building up too much!

February Photo a Day #10

This old roaster has been in our family for I don't know how long! It's old and the cord is frayed. The last time I used it was to roast a turkey about 4 years ago and it worked pretty good. But reality is I probably won't ever use it again. I kept it for a long time for sentimental reasons but it takes up a lot of room in the pantry. Time for it to go so Rich gave it to his friend to use for scrap metal! Bye old roaster!

Until tomorrow stay safe and well my friends!

February Photo A Day #9

This is a google street view of  the house in Detroit my grandparents lived in for most of my childhood. I have so many memories in this house and it breaks my heart to see it like it is now. Burnt and abandoned.

I saw this in At Home and thought it was pretty cute. I snapped a picture and have every intention of making this some day!

February Photo A Day #7

This is the tassel from my High School graduation in 1975. The school colors were brown and gold. This one hung on the rear view mirror of my car for a few years. It used to be a popular thing to do back then!

February Photo a Day #4

I have been moving all of my photos off of my computer and on to USBs for storage. This is what I have done so far over the years. These are from 2004 to present. My next project is to sort and scan all of the photos from my photo albums.  There are thousands of them and it's going to take me a while!

Until tomorrow stay safe and well my friends!

Shauna took Maxwell to the toy store so he could spend his birthday money! I'm sorry he has to wear a mask right now but he looks adorable in it!

Our local library is still closed to the public. They have curbside pick up though. Here I am waiting outside the library for them to bring out my books.

Until tomorrow, stay safe and well!

Phone Photo Dump

Time for another purge of the photos I collect on my phone!  The boys were playing with kinetic sand and it is a little oily.  Levi left hi...
