Long Time No See

I have been way uninspired to post this winter. It's a good thing that I did a couple of memes and photo challenges or you may never have heard from me!

Anyway, let's see.. what's been going on lately...

It's still abnormally cold here in Michigan USA! We're all getting very impatient with this weather!

My dad had knee replacement surgery in February. He did well immediately after but then developed some blood clots in his lungs and some other minor complications and had to go into a rehab place for a while. He's much better now but that was a rough patch for him. He's 81 years old and surgeries are rough on you at that age!

While he was in the rehab place we all got together and cleaned his house really good. Rich and I tackled the bedrooms and the bedroom furniture hadn't been moved since before my mom passed away, 10 years ago! We were finding all kinds of treasures like coins and a hearing aid (?) and pictures! It took more than three hours for all of us to clean the whole house but it looked fantastic when we were done, and he was very grateful!

Rich and I celebrated 36 years of wedded bliss on March 18th. We planned to spend the night at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, which is about 2 hours away from us. On the day we were supposed to leave we both got sick with some kind of intestinal bug and felt lousy! We went anyway because we would be out the whole hotel fee if we didn't, but it wasn't fun. We spent more that half the time we were there in bed (on a side note: it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!) and didn't take advantage of the awesome pool and hot tub they have there! So disappointed!

Diet is going wonderfully! I've lost 13 pounds so far since the Saturday after Christmas. Slow but steady so I'm happy. I feel much better and more energetic now! My blood sugars have been consistently under 100 in the mornings which is awesome for a diabetic! I go to the doctor on Thursday for my check up and am curious to see what my A1c is, which is a 3 month blood sugar average.  Last time I had it checked it was 6.2 so hopefully it will be down below 6.

Kids are doing good. We haven't seen our latest grandpuppy Bugsy in a few months so we are going over to Chris and Marissa's on Sunday to see him and to spend some time with the kids, too! Chris says he's getting pretty big and being a typical terrible puppy!

Thats all that's new for now. I'll leave you with a picture I took with  phone a month or so ago...

It's a little hard to see but that's five deer standing on the corner of a busy intersection by my work!

Until the next time.....

  4. I wondered where you wandered off to! Happy anniversary and congrats on the weight loss! Woo hoo! Sorry to hear about the set back with your dad. Knee replacement surgery is brutal and it was terrible for me in my late 50s. I don't even want to think about how hard it would be for someone who is in their 80s! I hope he continues to improve now. That was really nice of you guys to clean his home for him. Super sweet thing to do.
