New Babys And Stuff

We had another baby added to the family last week. This one was born to Rich's niece Kristy and her husband Greg who live in South Carolina. Alexander Thomas weighing in at 10 pounds, 3 ounces! He's a little cute little guy!

Last night it was so beautiful out we sat outside for a hour or so just to be able to breath the fresh air! We got to turn the air conditioning off and open the windows, too!

This is what you do when you don't have a decent front porch to sit on. Oh, our porch is big enough for the chairs to fit but a) they would be blocking the front door and b) the garage sticks out so we would only see one side of the neighborhood! It was nice sitting there last night!

Shauna started her job here at U of M yesterday. I think the biggest issue she will have is the parking. I know I've bitched about it here before because it's such a hassle. She has a little later starting time too, so it may be necessary for her to get there much earlier in order to get a spot! I'm worried that she will have a really hard time, but I'm sure she will adjust and make her way just fine. Just the mother hen in me coming out! That said, I am so thrilled to have her working so close to me. I definitely will see her more often and that's a bonus! I even had lunch with her today!

Tomorrow is my last day of work for 5 whole days. I only took Thursday off. Friday is my regular scheduled day off and Monday is a holiday. I don't think we are doing anything special. I would love to go up north, but traveling on a holiday weekend is such a pain, plus it's crowded and we don't have reservations anywhere. We may take a couple day trips to different state parks.

Last Saturday we went to the Pinckney State Recreation area. Not really impressed with the lakes but the drive to one of them was a long, sun dappled dirt road.

Really pretty!

Father's Day Weekend

Had a very nice weekend and the weather was gorgeous, even if it was a little hot.

Took a little trip to Lakeville to see my great-nephew Dominic. Isn't he the cutest little thing? He has such kissable little cheeks!!

They live fairly close to where my mother in law lives so we took a trip to see her, stopping at the old Romeo cemetery to visit Rich's dad's grave which was on the way. We hadn't been there in years.

They also were able to bury the ashes from his sister Diana on the same plot. This is her stone which was behind her parents gravestone. They haven't even filled it in yet.

Stopped on the way home to see Shauna at her old job one last time. Yesterday was her last day. She is on vacation for a week and starts her new job on the 28th!

Today we went to a early dinner with Chris and Marissa for Father's Day. Shauna did not go; she was too hung over from celebrating her last day at Hillers, I guess! Didn't see my dad today..he was busy with his sons! I did talk to him, though.

This evening was pretty low key...washed my car..did some laundry, the usual stuff getting ready for the new work week.

Damn weekends go by way too fast!

Hump Day Rant

I am so irritated with my job right now I could just scream! For the past two pay periods they have shorted me a day! The first one I forgive because mistakes happen, but when it's been pointed out and written down, there is no excuse for doing it again. I love my supervisor, and usually she's pretty good, but she is 9 months away from retiring, getting anxious to be out of here and it's starting to show!

Got a busy weekend coming up. First I am working this Friday, so here's another day that I have to make sure they don't cheat me out of!

On Saturday we are going to see my new little great-nephew, Dominic. They live about a hour away from us but only about 15 minutes from my MIL so of course we will be going to see her, too. Then in our quest to visit every state park in Michigan, I'm sure that there is one out there somewhere we can go to. We bought a year permit for $24. The day permits are $6 each, so we have to visit at least 4 parks for it to pay for itself and 5 to make it a bargain! We've got lots of state parks here in Michigan so it shouldn't be any problem. We already decided that we will drive for up to 2 hours to get to one! Some of them are very beautiful, especially the ones on the water!

On Sunday, we are going out to eat with the kids to celebrate Chris and Marissa's birthdays which were in May, Father's Day and Shauna's new job! Seems like forever since I saw my son and daughter-in-law!

I am in much need of a vacation. I have a 5 day weekend over the 4Th of July. And then the first week of August off. Don't think we're going anywhere special, though, it will be nice just to not have to work!

OK I feel better now!

Random Images From Saturday

I don't think I have ever seen a sign like this before.

Luna Pier..a very small town close to the Ohio border.

I love how these Adirondack chairs are all different colors!

A mama and her cute little babies!

Stopped at Sterling State Park on Lake Erie in Monroe, not too far from Fermi II, our local nuclear power plant!

What is holding these trees up?

On the good news front: My daughter Shauna got a job working in the same large hospital that I work at! She's been looking for a new job for it seems like forever and finally one came through!

I am looking forward to many lunches together!

Weekend Stuff

It was 7:00 on Sunday before the sun finally came out this past weekend. It was a rainy one!

Pretty uneventful, too.

Went to a awesome flea market! It was lighly raining almost the whole time I was there and I didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked but I did manage to pick up a few things.

This cool lamp!

These little teapot/cup combinations..one for me and one for Shauna!

This watch:

And a Louis Vuitton purse for only $5! Can you believe it?

Ha Ha! I know it's a fake but it's a pretty good one..and for that price it's a worth it. It is a very well made purse. I'm happy with it!

Later on we went to Rich's half-sister Alices' 80th birthday party! She's such a doll and has always had such a wonderful enthusiasm for life! I just love her and hope she's around for a good long time!
