Day One

Happy day one of Holidailies! At least I know I have titles for every post this month!

I plan on doing lots of posts about favorite Christmas decorations.

Starting with this one.

This Garage Sale ornament was given to me by a friend a long time ago.  We had kids of similar ages and hung around together a lot. And we used to love to go to garage sales together! She moved to New Jersey and we lost touch years ago but I think of her every time I look at this ornament.

Until tomorrow...

Hello........Is anyone out there?

Jeez, seems like it's been forever since I posted anything. but probably for good reason. Nothing has been going on lately so any posts will probably be pretty boring.

Rich just got  home today. He went deer hunting with Chris and my brothers and their kids. They go every year but this was the first time Rich went in a few years. Anyway, he was only gone for a few days. He did not shoot a deer, which I am glad for as neither one of us really likes venison. But he had a good time hanging out with everyone, drinking beer and eating junk food! Typical deer camp!

This is the first year that my dad didn't go. He's gone every year since before I was born, but I guess at almost 81 years old he didn't want to be bothered anymore!

Thanksgiving will be at his house this year. It's my year to not have anything so that's good. Although I do plan on having my sisters in law one weekend and maybe Brads parents sometime, too. It will be nice to not have to stress out on Christmas eve with a house full of people!

I put a app on my iPhone called "map My Walk". It tracks where you walk, how far and how fast. Yesterday I had the day off of work and I was excited to take a nice long walk and use the app. Well, I took the nice long walk but I was so busy making sure I had my music and the key to my house that I totally forgot to use the app until I was just a few blocks away from my house! Nice! Menopause, how I love theeeeee!

Maybe I'll try again tomorrow!

Read a couple of good books...Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy. I'm not really a history buff but these books were pretty good. Learned more about the Civil War and the Cuban Missile Crisis than I ever did in school! I'm done with reading about assassinating presidents, though. It's just too sad!

Well I said enough for someone who had nothing to write about. I will leave with with some kittie pics!

Sweet Smudge!

They love looking out the front door!

That's the end of my tale!!

Till the next time.......

Brenda's Photo Challenge-Autumn In All Her Glory

It's  Brenda's Photo Challenge time! This one is about Autumn In All Her Glory!

Michigan can certainly put on a beautiful color show in the fall. Note the header  for my very favorite fall picture!

This was taken at the same time. A carpet of amber leaves!

I think that the courtyard of the hospital give the most variety of color during peak color season.

Whew...

Last weekend was a particularly busy one for us.

On Friday we went to my cousins sons engagement party. I do believe it was the first one I had ever been to! I even Googled if we were supposed to bring a gift. Everywhere I looked said no; but there was a table full of gifts anyway!

Oh well, when we get the wedding announcement I'll send a gift then. We won't be attending the wedding because it's in Vancouver BC!

These huge chocolate and caramel covered apples were on every table and they were delicious! I of course did not bring my camera but I did use my phone to get this picture.

On Saturday my brothers best friend got married. The whole family was invited and we had a blast.

Here's the happy bride and groom with my brothers Tom (standing) and Don, who was the best man.

These little seed packets were at every place setting. Such a cute idea.  Mine's propped up on my first of many drinks of the night!

We're very happy for John and Donna.

Sunday was a day of rest and we needed it!

This weekend was pretty much spent catching up on all the stuff I did not do last weekend!

Notes From My Mother-In-Law

Coming up this November it will be two years since my mother in law passed away.

On the day of her funeral my sister-in-law  handed me a envelope with a couple of notes in that my MIL had written to me and to Rich many years ago and wanted us to have them after she was gone.

In one she admitted that she was upset when we got married. That kind of surprised me because she never let on in the least little bit. After having a chance to think about it, though, I could hardly blame her. We were way too young to get married at 21 and 20 years old.  Housekeeping was not my thing back then and it probably showed!

By the time we were married for 5 years we already had Chris and Shauna. We were a go-with-the-flow type of family that didn't worry too much about keeping any kind of schedule. Sometimes we went to the grocery store at 9:00 or later in the evening...taking our babies with us. She wasn't real impressed with that!

A couple of them were just little notes that she had jotted down after a holiday or some other time when we got  together and how glad she was to see how much we loved each other and how loving we were with our kids.

In spite of her earlier misgivings about us, she was always loving and gracious to me.

I'm glad she wrote these little notes for us. They are something that I treasure.
