the Brenda Photo Challenge -- Wood

It was hard to stick to three pictures due to the fact that my house is wood from one end to the other!

Wood magnet with miniature cups.

Wood clock that my son made back in Middle School.

Wood bar against wood paneling!

Wednesday Stuff

Friday I went to a couple of estate sales. One that I just walked through and left; one that I bought a few small things at. The pickings were slim!

Got my new treadmill delivered and set up in the afternoon. It's great and I really love it. Well, as much as one can love a treadmill anyway! The only problem was that the front is much bigger than my old one. The TV that I watch while I am walking sits on a old stereo, not really very high.

I can hardly believe I'm posting this picture for the whole world to see! Please pretend you do not see the dust, ok? Thank you! Anyway, that was too low and walking on the treadmill, I could barely see more than the upper half.

We needed something higher for the TV to sit on. Something that would be sturdy and not too much money. I was thinking a chest of drawers would work good, be high and sturdy enough. We didn't want to spend a lot of money so Saturday, we decided to go to IKEA and see what they had. Good Lord! That place was extremely busy!! We drove around and around the parking lot and could not find a spot. Finally we ended up parking next door at ABC Warehouse.

We found a good one at a good price. They only had the light wood one but I really didn't care either way. Took it home and put it together and now my TV is the perfect height and I have somewhere to store our winter sweaters too! Win-win!

The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. Sunday night into Monday it snowed about 6-7 inches. Pretty, but I am so over snow!

I cannot wait for Spring!

New Dreadmill and Memory Lane

Wow, three-day weekends sure do go by fast!

I am going to try to go to at least one estate sale on Fridays. I love them but I think I enjoy going into the different houses, more than I enjoy actually hunting for bargains. This time I went into a redone old house in downtown Plymouth. It was gorgeous, with black and white checkered marble floor, arched doorways with ornate carvings and pillars. Very nice. I bought a set of plates for my wall rack.

Drove to another house that was deep in the woods on a very narrow road. This house was loaded with stuff, and I left without buying a thing! I try to refrain from buying knick-knacks because I have too many of those already. If I bought everything that caught my eye, my house would overflow with crap! If I can't think of a specific place or use for an item, then I won't buy it.

I have been wanting to get a new treadmill for a while now. I have been pricing them and found one I liked at Sears last week. Saturday we went there to buy it. When we walked in we passed a sales lady who was helping another customer. She asked us if we wanted the key to turn the treadmills on to try. We said yes, she gave it to us and then went back to helping her customer. As we were looking at a particular treadmill, a salesman came up and was answering some questions we had. Then the first sales lady came up to us and told the other guy that we were her customers. He got mad and stormed off, saying he was telling so-and-so that he was tired of her stealing his customers! The sales lady excused herself and went back to the people she was helping in the first place. We kept looking at the different ones, and here comes the second salesman again. Just as we were getting ready to tell him we would take the treadmill, the sales lady came back to us asking if we wanted her to check and see if they had that one in stock for delivery! So there we are, sales people on both sides of us waiting for us to choose which one of them we will give the sale to! To say that it was a uncomfortable situation is an understatement! To make a long story short (too late!) we did the only thing we could think of to do, we walked out! Without buying a treadmill! Went to another Sears about 6 miles away and bought it there! I need to write a letter to Sears and let them know that that was not cool!

Later Rich and I took a quick tour of our old neighborhoods. We both grew up in Detroit. Here is the house that I lived in from birth, until I was 19 years old. I had heard that it was boarded up and so it was:

My parents raised 4 kids in that tiny house with one bathroom! Every corner of that neighborhood holds a memory for me! It breaks my heart to see it go to ruin. And I really wanted to pry one of those boards off and go see inside that house!

Rich grew up in Detroit too. This house was about 8 miles away from mine and is burned and boarded up! That's where he lived when we first met and started dating.

His neighborhood was really bad..every other house was either burned or empty or collapsed! Needless to say, we just quickly drove through!

Sunday was a clean the house day. We watched The Godfather. Good lord, how many times can you watch a movie? I think I have seen that movie at least 25 times, but yet every time I see it on TV I watch it!

My favorite line: "Leave the gun. Take the cannollis!" Ha!!

Snow

This is the view out our front door about 5 minutes ago.

It started to snow very lightly on my way to work this morning and has been snowing all day. We have about 5 inches right now and it's supposed to keep snowing all night until we have about 8-10 inches. Not a lot compared to other places in the country, but more than we have had all winter. Guess our luck ran out!

The drive to work tomorrow should be interesting!

Ok I admit, it's pretty but I am ready for Spring!

We went to a Super Bowl party on Sunday. I made a cake for dessert, and used my moms cake taker that she got for a shower gift!

I am not really a football fan. I go to the parties for the food, And to watch the commercials! However, I am way happy for New Orleans..I think they deserve something good like this to happen to them!

This was the first week of my new 4-day work schedule. It's weird, but those 4-days seemed to drag by!

**On a side note: Every time I type the word weird, I always spell it wierd..I guess it's the I before E except after C thing stuck in my head, but it's really I before E except after C unless it's the word weird....weird huh?

Anyway, yesterday there was an estate sale by my house that I wanted to go to. It started at 10:00, so I got there about 10:15 figuring it would probably be pretty busy. People were still lined up and when I walked up I noticed a sign that said to get your number at the door. Then someone told me that they had just let the number 27 in, and that she was number 64! So being the impatient person that I am, who also doesn't care for standing around outside in 20 degree weather, I left! Then I went back about a hour later, saw people still standing in line so I just drove by.

I decided go grocery shopping and get that chore out of the way for the week. It was either that or clean the bathroom! After I got home and was putting the groceries away, Shauna came over so we went back to the estate sale. This time no line so we went it. Walked around and only ended up buying a pair of kitchen shears that looked brand new for $1.

Shauna was doing her laundry so we watched Beaches and we both cried, even though we have seen it several times before! I love that movie!

Last night we went to dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen where we waited for 40 minutes, still didn't get seated, then left and went somewhere else! Grrrrr!!

This morning my buddy Marie had to work so no breakfast out. Rich is working too. Guess I should clean the bathroom!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Phone Photo Dump

Time for another purge of the photos I collect on my phone!  The boys were playing with kinetic sand and it is a little oily.  Levi left hi...
