Estate Sale Potpourri

Last Friday I went to a bunch of Estate Sales.

I won't bore you with all the details and none of the houses were really remarkable, so I'll just show you a few things I thought were interesting.

They were selling this preserved wedding dress for $50. Not sure what year it was from, but my guess is probably in the early 70's.

One of the houses had several closets filled with clothes like these two suites above. For $20 you could get as many clothes as you could cram in a brown grocery sized bag. I passed.

One had a table filled with these teacup sets. I used to have a bunch of them a long time ago and displayed them on a shelf that my dad made for me. I still have the shelf but the teacup sets are long gone!

I was something I've never seen before. An automatic windchime. I didn't buy it because I don't need it and didn't want to spend $8 on it. However, I changed my mind and went back to the sale the next day when everything was 50% off.  I thought the boys would get a kick out of it and it would only be $4. But it was gone! Oh well!

I did end up buying this glass though for $1. I just thought it was pretty.

Next post I'll tell you about some scarecrows and a tribute to a famous Plymouth dog.

Until then stay safe and well my friends!

  1. That automatic windchime would have been interesting to see! I can see myself though, if I bought it, losing interest in it after a brief time so you were wise to save your money :) It is funny to think that wedding dress would be considered vintage. Wonder if someone did buy it. After moving mine with a lot of moves, I finally gave it to Goodwill or the like back in the late 1990s (married in 1980). Looking forward to your next post.

  4. I miss going to sales like you do! Some interesting things there; too bad about the windchime though. The glass is pretty! My problem now in not going? I have to watch every penny these days but hopefully not for too longs. I'm always happy to see you here now that I'm back to blogging. And I don't miss FB at all. :)

  5. Interesting things! At a church I used to attend, they held an Advent Tea every year and the church kitchen had over 100 teacups/saucers that people donated. It was really neat to go and have tea and Xmas cookies after the service.

  8. Could you take the wedding dress out of the box?
What era were those crazy clothes from? I would've passed too :)

  11. Oh my word I don't know why but I think the wedding dresses preserved in boxes like that are so creepy! My daughter Stephanie had hers done and it was in the closet and I didn't even want to sleep in the same room with it, haaahaha! It reminds me of a coffin, I guess. Just weirds me out. You see some amazing things at those estate sales! that is a cute glass. xoxo
