A Whole Lotta Nothing

Been a while since I have been here. The days have been the usual work, eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep...etc.

Last week we decided on the spur of the moment to take a day trip to the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI. We went with my brother Don and sister-in-law Linda. We have taken several little short trips with them. Mostly to various casinos here in Michigan and once in Indiana. We travel well together and always have a good time. Anyway, we left at about 9:30 in the morning, stopped for breakfast, stayed at the casino for several hours, had dinner and then drove home. Managed to leave the casino with a little more than I went with, so it was a nice day all around!

On Sunday I went to good old Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought a steam cleaner for our wood floor.

I love it! It took going over the floor about four times before it didn't leave a film from previous floor cleaners, but once we got it clean it looks awesome! Now it's just a matter of going over it every couple of days and keeping it clean. So much easier!

This past Sunday we went to a small birthday party for my mother-in-law. She's going to be 92 on Thursday. Can I just mention that I have more gray hair than she does? It's true! Gray hair does not run in my husbands family. All of my sister-in-laws have very little if any gray in their hair, and they are older than me! Where is the justice I ask you!!

Anyway, MIL is doing pretty good considering. She's on oxygen all of the time and she looked tired on Sunday. But she is not in any pain so that's a good thing. She loves to do her find a word puzzles and loves different kind of pens!

This week will be busy preparing for Easter. I have to make "fugasa" on Friday, which is an Italian Easter bread that my grandmother, and my mother and now me make every year. Although, I have to confess, there was a few years where I actually forgot to make it!! I have yet to perfect it though. Every year there is always something wrong with it...too dry..not cooked in the middle..whatever. This year I'm striving for perfection!! Well see..

That's all the exciting news for now.

  1. I was really happy to read your review of the floor mop. I have really considered getting one. Now I really think I will. Good luck with the fugasa!

  2. Your mother-in-law sounds amazing! You know, mom had less gray hair in her eightie's than I do in my 60's, but my dad had beautiful white hair. I don't think any of us are going to take after Dad though.

So glad you posted about the steamer; I bet that's exactly what I need. I've tried every kind of cleaner out there, and I always have "spots" and residue. I just may have to get one of those. :)

  3. I got a steam mop and it seemed hard to push around the floor, and that hurt my back. Is your new one easy to slide around on the floor?

  6. I'm glad to hear that your MIL is doing well and that you had a nice visit with her.

Oh, I wish I could get one of those steam mops, but DH worries that it hurts wood floors and tile. Darn it all! Wish I could convince him!
